I started pole fitness three and a half years ago; I was trying to find something that I could connect to when I felt very alone and didn’t have much direction after not graduating college. Pole dance has now become a beacon of light that I turn to when I’m stressed, angry, or even totally elated and craving more joy!
With my background in acrobatics and some dance, I fall in love with the challenge of new pole tricks and flows as I acquire them. It’s addictive. I seek to teach others so that they, too, in their own way, can feel the raw joy (or whatever emotion) that swells up in your body when you accomplish or struggle with something whether it be a big or little goal. I mention struggle because it’s just as critical to growth as accomplishment, if not, more. I found this quote by Martin Luther King, Jr. relatable to my pole journey thus far, “Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable… every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.”
Let’s learn to pole guys!
